Influenza (Flu) Vaccination Now Available! [Guide to 3-Valent Vaccine Transition]

Hello! This is Hanaro Medical Foundation.

We are beginning influenza (3-valent flu vaccine) vaccinations.

Customers who wish to be vaccinated can visit us during vaccination hours with their identification card.

The 2025-2026 season National Influenza Immunization Program will be implemented by transitioning from the previous 4-valent vaccine to a 3-valent vaccine, in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations and the deliberations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (July ‘24, March ‘25).

The 3-valent vaccine is a vaccine that excludes the Influenza B Yamagata lineage antigen, which has not been detected globally for a long period, from the previous 4-valent vaccine. It has been confirmed that there is no difference between the two in terms of effectiveness and safety.

※ Seniors aged 65 and older are eligible for free vaccinations during the vaccination period. Please visit according to the vaccination schedule for each age group.

Ages 70–74 (born between Jan 1, 1951 – Dec 31, 1955): Oct 20, 2025 (Mon) ~ until supplies last

Why is this year's flu vaccination being conducted with a trivalent vaccine?

This is because, in accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO)'s recommendation, the B/Yamagata lineage virus antigen, which has not been detected for a long time, has been excluded. Although there has been a switch from the existing quadrivalent vaccine to a trivalent vaccine with one less antigen, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, there is no difference in effectiveness and safety compared to the existing quadrivalent vaccine.

When can seniors aged 65 and older receive free vaccinations?

Free vaccinations will be available sequentially starting from October 15, 2025, depending on age. Those aged 75 and older can get vaccinated from October 15, those aged 70-74 from October 20, and those aged 65-69 from October 22. Please visit within the schedule as vaccinations will continue until the vaccine supply is exhausted.

Can minors or children also get vaccinated at Hanaro Medical Foundation?

Adolescents aged 18 and under can be vaccinated if accompanied by a guardian, but preschoolers and young children are not vaccinated at this foundation. Children eligible for national immunization programs should visit designated pediatric clinics, and adolescents aged 18 and under must bring their student ID or family relationship certificate, etc.

Are there any preparations needed when visiting the hospital for vaccination?

Yes, you must bring your ID card as identity verification is mandatory. Please bring one of the following: resident registration card, passport (new passport must include passport information certificate), driver's license, health insurance card, or mobile ID, and visit within reception hours.

Can pregnant women also get the flu vaccine at Hanaro Medical Foundation?

No, Hanaro Medical Foundation does not administer flu vaccinations to pregnant women. Pregnant women should use other designated medical institutions, such as obstetrics and gynecology clinics, where vaccinations for pregnant women are available for safe vaccination.
